Welcome to Version 4

As you can probably imagine, a total website redesign is no small task and it is not something to be taken lightly. That being said, it is one of the necessary components to keep a business moving forward online. In the two years that we’d been using our last layout/site (v3), a lot had changed, and we decided that it was time for a spruce-up. A refresh of the colour scheme, some new additions to the portfolio, and an idea began to take form.

The Process

I’ll be the first to admit that this new version took a lot longer than expected. Between other projects and tweaking everything to get it just right, well, it just plain took a while. The look and feel that you see in front of your right now is actually the third design in our series of attempts… if you’re interested, you can even take a look at our two previous incomplete attempts: first attempt, and the second attempt. Needless to say, neither one quite made the cut, but they did help to generate some of the inspiration for the current design!

In terms of new features, we have lots planned, but for our first get-it-out-the-door release, not everything has been implemented. So, enough chatter, and on to the features!

User System

Our first major thing would be the new user system. If you’ve noticed, you are now required to login to download anything from our Goodies section and you can make an account through our register page. Once you have an account, you’ll see a link to edit your account where you can add profile images, signatures, a bio about yourself, and you can also send messages to other users on our website! This feature also ties in with some up-and-coming ideas we have and it will allow you to keep one consistent login across all the systems on our website.

Blog / Twitter

If you’re reading this, then you’ve probably noticed that we’ve created a new blog so that we can more easily communicate with our visitors. We’ve transformed our old news section into a more generic blog which will allow us to post all kinds of updates including site news, script releases, fun articles, and much more. If you prefer, you can read our blog via rss feed through your favourite newsreader. As you may have also noticed, we’ve now got a twitter account! If you prefer to follow us via twitter, you can head on over to our twitter page and keep track of the happenings there!

Contacting Us

A rather minor update to our contact us section has occurred. We now have two separate forms based on why you’re contacting us. This will just help us to keep things a tad more organized and to get you quick response!

Possibilities

As I said earlier, our main focus for this initial release of the site is to get it out-the-door and to our visitors. We’re always happy to get feedback so if you’d like to send us your thoughts, please do so using our contact page. Just as a sidenote, some possibilities for additions to the site include a Forum, a Wiki, and a more comprehensive User and Account System (perhaps for a fourth version of a certain script)?
